We all want more in life. More time, more money, more happiness, more peace, more travel (when oh when are we gonna get to travel again??!!) But have you ever thought about how you’re making room for ‘more’?
Imagine life as a jar of marbles. Each marble represents something in your life – people, possessions, time, emotions, etc. Your jar is constantly full because you’re managing everything you can even right now.
So, in order to have something NEW in your life, you’d need to make room for it. One of those marbles will have to go to make room for the new one. The question then becomes ‘What do I let go of?’
Let go of things that don’t serve you anymore.
If the rickety old sofa doesn’t serve you anymore, let go of it and make room for a comfy new one.
If remembering the good days with the ex makes you feel down in the dumps, let go of it. Make room to create new memories by DOING something fun today.
If thinking about all the things you lack makes you feel depressed, let go of it by focussing instead on what you DO have. Practicing gratitude does wonders to your psyche.
If you constantly find yourself surrounded by negative people, let go of them (reduce their influence in your life) and find people who match your energy or inspire you to be better! You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Making room in your life to read inspiring authors or watching motivational speeches are ways to increase your average without cutting people out of your life.
When we let go of things that don’t serve us anymore, we make room for things that WILL serve us. This applies to not only the physical, but energy, beliefs, attitudes and values as well – things that ACTUALLY matter in life.
What do YOU need to let go of to make room for something you want?
